I am taking a breather. This week is extremely busy. I can fit everything that needs to be done so long as nothing takes longer than it should and nothing new, urgent and important happens. I don’t expect this to be one of my longer blog entries (who’s cheering?) but find it helpful in the midst of busyness and business to take a break from it all and reflect.
There’s a wonderful few words in Psalm 46:10 – “be still and know that I am God.” It is translated as – “Step out of the traffic! Take a long, loving look at me, your High God…” by Eugene Peterson in The Message.
The “Be still…” bit is perhaps better translated as “stop fighting…” Either way you look at it there’s an invitation from God to pause and reflect on who he is. That always puts things in perspective for me and is always a good use of time.
Some other thoughts to reflect on:
Good health is merely the slowest possible rate at which one can die.
Growing old is inevitable; growing up is optional.
Half the people you know are below average.
If mother always knows best, what happens when two mothers disagree?
If you think about it, Adam had more trouble than any of the rest of us buying his Father a gift for Father’s Day. I mean, what do you get somebody who’s Everything?
I’m writing a book. I’ve got the page numbers done already.
