>I have been deserted. Sally has taken the children and gone to stay with her mother.
Actually it’s not as dramatic as it sounds – they have gone for the weekend while I hold the fort here. I was a bit worried a couple of nights ago, though, as I was rubbing my head in the middle of the night and suddenly Sally moved and I thought I had caught her in the eye with my elbow. Just imagine it – she turns up at her mother’s with the children in tow, sporting a black eye! It would not have looked good. (Thankfully it turned out to be her hand that connected with my elbow. Phew)
So what do I do for the weekend?
Tonight I have a meeting. Tomorrow I am contemplating going to watch Ipswich Town play at home (they are my favourite football team). Sunday we have a service of Believer’s Baptism in the morning and I am leading the evening service (the reasons I have stayed home). I think I will be busy.
I am trying to think of a neat segue to my next thoughts, but there isn’t one, so consider this an untidy segue.
I saw on Facebook that at Greenbelt this weekend (THAT would have been a good segue: ‘talking of weekends, it’s Greenbelt this weekend…’) and they have a beer tent / pub which they have called the ‘Jesus Arms’. I love that.
You can camouflage an evening out by saying that you will be spending it in Jesus’ arms. I can see new spiritual interpretations of, “You’re my besht mate, I love you”. Is it open 24/7 because Jesus’ arms are always open for us?
I’m not going to spoil it now by saying that the best place for us is in Jesus’ arms (oops, I just did) but it does seem to me that if Jesus was walking around Greenbelt he may well spend some time in that tent, socialising, getting to know people and having a good laugh. We would want him to turn up in church. Where does he want us to turn up?
