That’s a daft phrase isn’t it: ‘expect the unexpected’? How can you expect what is, by definition, not expected. You might as well say ‘watch the invisible’ or ‘stop the inevitable’.
But when it comes to God, he seems to flesh out that phrase.
Expect the unexpected – a pregnant teenager carrying The One.
Expect the unexpected – angels turning up in person and in dreams.
Expect the unexpected – dishonour, gossip and shame that was wholly undeserved.
Expect the unexpected – he really was ‘born in a barn’ (an excuse for leaving doors open in later life!)
Expect the unexpected – God has something he wants to say to you
