it arrived!

This is a brief follow-up to yesterday’s excited bloggage. The book arrived and looks good. I’ve now confirmed it’s ready to go and it’s awaiting approval from the online publisher. This is me with the proof (title still concealed to increase the suspense!)

I hope the approval is not based on the quality of the material. I think it’s checking for plagiarism, AI-generated content and whether it fits within the rules of the publisher. The process should only take a couple of days and then it will be available to buy.

How good are you at waiting?

How about waiting for God (not Godot)?

Psalm 40 begins: “I waited patiently for the Lord…” which sounds lovely and pastoral. In entirety the first 2 verses of Psalm 40 give us a different picture:

¹ I waited patiently for the Lord;
    he turned to me and heard my cry.
² He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
    out of the mud and mire;

So David, to whom this Psalm is attributed, was waiting patiently in a slimy, muddy, miry pit until God heard (and it seems like it was a while, otherwise why ‘patiently’?) and responded.

Sometimes waiting for God requires perseverance, endurance, patience, and most of all faith. God promises to give us those things if we ask. One of the pomes in my book is called Psalm 39¾ and contains my musings about what happened before David got to Psalm 40. You’ll have to buy the book to read it.
